Gerry's Opening Monologue -
"This is Gerry Prokopowicz, with Civil War Talk Radio,...

"...Union General Oliver O. Howard is well known for his hard luck performances at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Some also know of his role after the war as Head of the Freedman's Bureau and his founding of Howard University in Washington, D.C. for the education of the Freed Men. Few people know that he founded, or played a role in the founding, of another University, Lincoln Memorial University in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Tennessee. Lincoln Memorial University is today home of the Abraham Lincoln Museum. We'll talk to that museum's director, Thomas Mackie, today on Civil War Talk Radio."
